LIGHTING UP PENNSYLVANIA YELLOW

Pennsylvania participates proudly in the national effort to illuminate America in yellow on January 27 for International Holocaust Remembrance Day. Through involvement from key state landmarks, Pennsylvania strengthens the call for remembrance and unity.

We invite additional Pennsylvania communities, institutions, and landmarks to join this statewide tribute. If your location is interested in participating, please contact the coalition.

Governor's Executive Mansion – Harrisburg

The Governor’s Executive Mansion illuminated its exterior in yellow, standing as a prominent symbol in the heart of Harrisburg. Its participation reflects the state’s leadership and dedication to preserving Holocaust memory.

In the center of Philadelphia, the City Hall illuminated yellow, symbolizing the City's commitment to remembrance on International Holocaust Remembrance Day

PA State Capitol Resolution

On International Holocaust Remembrance Day, members of 3G Philly and their families visited the State Capitol Building in Harrisburg to hear a resolution read. The Resolution reflected the Commonwealth's commitment to Holocaust remembrance and acknowledgement of the day. Thank you to Representatives Waxman and Representative Solomon for their work to highlight this important day of remembrance.

Camden Waterfront Buildings

Across the Delaware River, additional office buildings illuminated yellow in support and recognition of International Holocaust Remembrance Day. Reflected in the River, the appearance of yellow buildings in Philadelphia and across the water was a beautiful sight.

Shabbat at the Governor's Mansion

Members of 3G Philly and its partner organizations enjoyed a meaningful Shabbat dinner at Governor Shapiro's home the friday before International Holocaust Remembrance Day. In attendance was a Holocaust survivor who shared her story with the Governor prior to dinner.

Shabbat at the Governor's Mansion

During the Shabbat dinner, Governor and First Lady Shapiro spoke about the importance of Holocaust education and their commitment to this kind of work throughout the Commonwealth. Governor Shapiro also noted the power and meaning of seeing Jewish traditions carried out in the Governor's Mansion- embodying our freedom of religion and expression.

Philadelphia Center City Buildings

Many buildings in the City's business district lit up yellow, including the Comcast (R). This was a striking and meaningful display in recognition of all the victims of the Holocaust.

Candle Lighting at Holocaust Memorial Plaza

As part of Light It Up Yellow, 3G Philly and its partners hosted a candle lighting at the site of the first public Holocaust Monument in the US.
